Talking about what matters most is hard enough in your first language. Newsha Counselling offers psychotherapy in both Farsi and English, so you can describe your experience in the words that feel closest to it — without having to translate or explain the cultural context first.
Care that understands the context
For people from Iranian and broader Persian-speaking backgrounds, ideas about family, duty, shame, and belonging often sit close to the centre of what brings someone to therapy. Newsha Javahery is a PACFA-registered Clinical Psychotherapist who works with this context as part of the work, not a footnote to it — including the particular strains of migration, cultural identity, and carrying expectations across generations.
A trauma-informed, educational approach
Newsha specialises in complex trauma, anxiety, burnout, and nervous-system regulation. A core part of her approach is helping you understand what's happening — why certain patterns repeat, how stress shows up in the body, and what actually helps settle it. Many people find that understanding the why is what finally makes change feel possible.
How sessions work
Sessions are available online across Australia and in person in Parramatta. Whether you're in Sydney or a regional area, you can work with a Farsi-speaking therapist over secure video. Newsha sees adults across a range of concerns — trauma, anxiety, relationship and family patterns, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions.
If you're not sure where to start
That's normal, and you don't need to have it worked out before reaching out. If you'd like, book a free 15-minute intro call — in Farsi or English — to ask questions and get a feel for whether it's the right fit. اگر راحتتر هستید، میتوانیم به فارسی صحبت کنیم.
If you're in crisis, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or call 000.
